Waterford Greenway buses

Your ideal bike day starts and finishes with easy bus links from all major depots.

Your simple guide to buses along the Waterford Greenway

We get asked about the bus every single day – and for good reason. There’s no private shuttle anymore, but the public Bus Éireann routes connect all three of our depots in Waterford, Kilmacthomas, and Dungarvan. With a bit of planning, you can leave the car at one end, catch a bus to the other, and enjoy the whole Greenway without worrying about the clock.

Greenway bus options by depot

From Waterford City

If you’re cycling the full Greenway, start here early. Take the 8am bus to Dungarvan and cycle back – that way you’re not watching the clock.

Best for:
Starting your day in Waterford and ending in Dungarvan, or vice versa.

All buses are operated by Bus Éireann. Check www.buseireann.ie for the latest timetables and updates, or use this journey planner for live times.

From Kilmacthomas

Drop your car in Kilmacthomas, get the morning bus to Dungarvan, have breakfast, and cycle back out. You’re under no pressure for time then.

Best for:
Cyclists finishing halfway, families with kids, or those planning a shorter day.

All buses are operated by Bus Éireann. Check www.buseireann.ie for the latest timetables and updates, or use this journey planner for live times.

From Dungarvan

The most popular route is Dungarvan to Kilmacthomas: grab a coffee at Railway Cottage Café, then either cycle back or catch the 3 o’clock bus home.

Best for:
Cyclists finishing their day in Dungarvan who need an easy return.

All buses are operated by Bus Éireann. Check www.buseireann.ie for the latest timetables and updates, or use this journey planner for live times.
